To transfer power from the motor to the driven clutch, we had to manufacture a shaft what would be strong enough to support the torque. This shaft also had to be removable. The first step was to drill and tap the shaft and thread in a steel threaded insert. Then the shaft was cut to size using the drill press.

The shaft was then cut to size using the miter saw. This was done in intervals to prevent the shaft from heating too much. Too much heat would cause some changes in the shaft’s material structure.
